TWO WOLVES

8 22 12 Two Wolves

Don’t forget to pray.

Scripture:  John 6:27 (NIV)  Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval."

John 6:35 (NIV) Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

Note:  Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people: My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The Other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: Which wolf wins?

The old Cherokee simply replied, the one you feed.

As believers there is a great battle going on inside of us as well. It's a battle between the old self and the new self. The old self is worldly, the new self is spiritual. The one you feed is the one who wins the battle. The old self grew strong on its worldly diet, a diet of envy, anger, jealousy, greed, arrogance, resentment, false pride and ego. It was a diet that led to ungodliness, evil and sinful behavior. It was a diet that eventually would result in death. The diet of the new self is a spiritual diet. It's a diet that will make the new man strong in their faith and ultimately result in eternal life. It's a diet that is based on the seven "I am" statements made by Jesus Christ found recorded in the gospel of John. These seven "I am" statements are spiritual bread and spiritual drink for those who hunger and thirst for an intimate relationship with Christ. These statements start in John 6:35 and if believed by faith, will be the bread and drink of life that will satisfy our spiritual needs.

1.     John 6:35; 51 "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."

2.      John 8:12 "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

3.      John 10:9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture.

4.     John 10:11; 14 "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me--

5.     John 11:25-26 "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"

6.     John 14:6 "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

7.     John 15:1; 5 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

These seven statements make a seven course meal that will keep us strong and healthy in our personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Which wolf do you feed?

Did the Lord speak to you today?  Why not write it down and claim it for His Glory.
Prayer:  What do you need to pray to the Lord today? Listen to your heart. He loves you!
