10 24 12 Gods Love Letter Written in Red
Did you know God has sent you a love letter? It’s a letter commonly referred to as the Bible and it really is a letter of love straight from the heart of God. It’s a letter that proclaims a message we all long to hear, I love you. It is a letter written with an uncommon pen using an uncommon ink. The pen was very large nails and the ink was the precious blood of His only Son. How important is that blood? Consider the following:
Fourteen Blessings of the Blood
1. Reconciliation and Justification: Romans 5:9-11 (NIV) Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
2. Remission of sins: Ephesians 1:7-8 (NIV) In him (Jesus) we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace 8 that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.
3. Life and peace: Colossians 1:19-20 (NIV) For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him (Jesus), and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
4. Redemption: Hebrews 9:12 (NIV) He (Jesus) did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.
5. Brought close: Hebrews 10:19-22 (NIV) Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
6. Pure conscience: Hebrews 9:14 (NIV) How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!
7. Purifies from sin: 1 John 1:7 (NIV) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
8. Equipped For Every Good Work: Hebrews 13:20-21 (NIV) May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
9. New covenant: Matthew 26:28 (NIV) This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
10. New birth: 1 Peter 1:18-19; 23 (NIV) For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.
11. Overcoming power: Revelation 12:11 (NIV) They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
12. Church membership: Acts 20:28 (NIV) Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.
13. Salvation: Romans 5:9 (NIV) Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!
14. Heaven: Philippians 3:20-21 (NIV) But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.
One of my favorite hymns is entitled, Nothing But The Blood of Jesus. The first two lines of each stanza are pure “gospel.”
What Can Wash Away My Sin
What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
For my pardon, this I see,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Nothing can for sin atone,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
This is all my hope and peace,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Now by this I’ll overcome—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Glory! Glory! This I sing—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus,
The hymn’s refrain sung at the end of each stanza is a wonderful affirmation of our faith in the all sufficiency of Christ’s blood for the forgiveness of our sins.
Refrain:
Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Praise the Lord for the Blood of Jesus!!! I encourage you to read God’s love letter each and every day and take great joy in the depth of His love for you.
Did the Lord speak to you today? Why not write it down and claim it for His Glory.
Prayer: What do you need to pray to the Lord today? Listen to your heart. He loves you!
